Recycling Program
Poly's Environment Club has a recycling program, which collects single-stream recycling around the whole school on a weekly basis. The recycling is then picked up by Baltimore City from our very own school dumpster. The school is also applying for a mini grant to use reusable blue wheelable bins to collect recycling instead of using the lawn and leaf bags.
Recycling Reminders!
Signs reminding students and teachers what and what not to recycle in our yellow bin recycling program were posted in February 2016 and announced the information school-wide, including on the website along and an upcoming advisory lesson.
Rethink the facts.
Java Programming was made to showcase the connection between STEM and simple environmental measures to take. The programming was displayed and used at Poly's Open Houses for potential freshmen to inspire them to think green as they consider which high school to choose.
Upcycled Holiday Trees
For the holidays in 2015, upcycled trees were made to promote sustainability. These trees were actively incorporated into the Poly holiday assembly with an environmental spoken word performed by Poly Environment Club members. In 2014, the holiday assembly also featured an environmental spoken word. We hope that Environment Club's presence at holiday assembly can continue for years to come in perpetuating the holiday spirit of sustainability.
Clothing Drive
Poly's Environment Club and National Honor Society initiated a massive clothing drive, in which the clothes were donated to the Purple Heart. Here are the results, in which many hundreds of clothing items were donated by Poly students and staff! An aggressive announcements campaign was launched to promote this clothing drive and may have helped greatly with its success.

Bike Drive
In association with Bikes for the World, a nonprofit that takes used bikes and donates them to third-world countries, the Environment Club organized and promoted a bike drive. Saturday March 12, 2016, 10 Environment Club members came to volunteer to collect bikes. Members interacted with donors and helped process the donated bikes so they could be shipped to third world countries. 27 bikes, along with accessories and a sum of monetary donations of about $60 were also contributed.
